UNITY™ recognized by Boulder County Business Report (BCBR) annual IQ Awards.

VisionTEK’s UNITYTM product is a finalist in Boulder County Business Report (BCBR) annual IQ Awards. The BCBR IQ Awards recognize Boulder County companies and organizations for their innovative products and services. "We’re honored to be recognized by the Boulder County Business Report," said Frank Traylor, President and CEO of VisionTEK. "UNITY will immediately impact the effectiveness of public safety. Not only will UNITY provide first responders with a tool for day-today use, but it will also be a crucial component of emergency response and homeland security."

UNITY is a communications interoperability system composed of a network-based message switch and software for "clients," which include mobile laptop computers, handheld devices, and desktop computers. The message switch allows clients that use different types of wireless and wired connections to interoperate with each other in a common messaging environment.

Communications interoperability is one of the Department of Homeland Security’s primary focus areas to ensure domestic security against terrorist threats. UNITY addresses and overcomes interoperability obstacles faced by first responders by networking different technologies together. UNITY allows public and private agencies to communicate over wireless or wired networks during emergencies and during day-to-day activities.

The UNITY System helps public agencies:
  • Share information in real-time,
  • Communicate across different wireless and wired networks,
  • Respond to multi-jurisdictional incidents.
The climate of 21st century America requires public safety agencies to work together in a collective effort to secure our country from terrorist threats. UNITY promotes effective, efficient communications that help further this objective.

Potential users who can benefit from UNITY include Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Hospitals, Government agencies (Centers for Disease Control, Department of Health & Human Services, etc.), and related private-sector entities (electric & gas utilities, telecom companies, etc.).

The UNITY Messaging System provides communications functionality through a variety of communications protocols (CDMA, GPRS, 80211.b, Satellite, CDPD, etc.). Message routing is configurable by agency, and messages can be sent to one person or to groups of people. About VisionTEK, Inc.
