Colorado software company, VisionTEK, Inc., provides state-of-the-art criminal booking system for Florida law enforcement agencies

(Superior, Colorado)—A new era of more efficient and accurate law enforcement, saving officer time and agency resources, has been initiated by a consortium of law enforcement agencies in southwest Florida. Software development company VisionTEK, of Superior, Colorado, has been selected to provide a Universal Booking System (UBS) to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Consortium that is comprised of the State Attorney’s Office, Court Administration and Public Defender of the 20th Judicial Circuit of Lee County, representing a population of approximately 357,000 citizens.

Kris Brooks, Project Manager for CJIS, states that “the Consortium has worked long and hard to provide its members with a state-of-the-art booking system, and now, with VisionTEK’s help, this will soon become a reality.”

Lee County Sheriff’s Office is already using a suite of VisionTEK’s mobile software applications in their patrol cars, and the new application will integrate with their current booking system and will be used by all other law enforcement agencies in Lee County. as well as being installed throughout the entire CJIS association.

The new system, to be installed in Lee County by the middle of 2002, enables police and sheriff’s agencies to conduct the booking procedures of arrested individuals more efficiently than ever before. The new Web-based UBS will make it possible for officers to book criminal suspects online from any computer or laptop that has access to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The booking forms will automatically be routed to the appropriate jail and court system, saving time and increasing accuracy in the booking process itself.  It will also allow tracking of defendants from the moment they are arrested.

“We will be able to book suspects faster and with fewer errors in the process, than ever before,” Brooks continued.

VisionTEK’s President and CEO, Frank Traylor says he is “excited about this new and powerful application that we are adding to our current FrontLine™ suite of software products. The new state-of-the-art Universal Booking System will put the 20th Judicial Circuit at the forefront of law enforcement technology in the U.S.”

Lee County’s booking system will be shared with eight participating agencies: Fort Myers Police, Cape Coral Police, Lee County Sheriff, Sanibel Police, Lee County Port Authority Police, Florida Gulf Coast University Campus Police, Florida Highway Patrol, and the Department of Corrections.
